Patio Bonito
Just 15 to 20 years ago, Carlos Trujillo attended a coffee workshop where he first learned that exceptional quality could earn prices well beyond the commodity market. At the time, the idea that better varieties and improved processing could transform a farm's future seemed almost unbelievable.
When we first visited Patio Bonito in 2017, we were struck by its incredible biodiversity. Coffee grows alongside flowers, fruit trees, vegetables, and spices, creating one of the most vibrant farms we've seen. Carlos had already begun making thoughtful improvements, producing beautifully clean, high-quality washed coffees.
Since then, the farm's growth has been remarkable. Carlos' daughter, Paola, returned after years working on the business side of coffee and helped bring Patio Bonito onto the world stage. Through innovations like thermal shock processing, controlled inoculation, and precision drying, the family now produces competition-level coffees while earning many times what they once did.
This offering is a reminder that excellence doesn't have to be complicated. It's a beautifully washed Typica that showcases meticulous processing and the timeless character of one of coffee's most celebrated varieties.
