Description

This is our 5th harvest partnering with Unity and the Villatoro family who live in the idyllic village of Hoja Blanca, in Huehuetenango, crafting excellent coffee every.
When our sourcing team visited, they were put to work. They harvested cherries, raked parchment, & helped with fermentation experiments. This washed day-lot was expertly processed by Juan, his amazing family, & the indigenous Mam people who work seasonally in their village.
This lot comes from Juan’s brother Aurelio, and nephews Jenner, Rodin, & Dennis. Aurelio is a world class coffee grower, placing many times in the country’s Cup of Excellence. Aurelio’s sons have a wonderful passion for coffee. Jenner has taken on sample roasting and cupping, Rodin is focusing on business, and Dennis recently graduated Univeristy with a focus on farm-level work. They all see the potential to bring their family to the next level, and are ecellent at executing top level processing of microlots.
On Unity’s last trip with the family, Rodin described a new plot of land, Finca Alaska. It is the highest elevation farm in the area, getting upwards of 2300 feet above sea level! It gets very cold there, and is super remote. We bought every possible bag from Finca Alaska, and hope you love it’s crisp flavor profile.
